US-Schmerzforscher als Studienfälscher entlarvt
Ein Wissenschaftler soll über 12 Jahre lang 21 Studien zur postoperativen Schmerztherapie gefälscht haben. Mit seinen Veröffentlichungen hatte er die Schmerztherapie revolutioniert und den Umsatz der Hersteller von nebenwirkungsreichen COX2-Hemmern, wie Celebrex® von Pfizer oder Vioxx® von Merck & Co. in die Höhe getrieben. Aber auch den Einsatz des Antidepressivums Effexor® (in Deutschland Trevilor®, in Österreich Efectin®) von Wyeth in der Schmerztherapie hatte er aufgrund seiner gefälschten Studien empfohlen.

Und in beiden Fällen eignet sich der Einzelfall als stark vereinfachtes Modell des Systems, in das er eingebettet ist.
